About us

The Gen Dai brand is family ran business which originated from the United Kingdom by Sensei David Shipton who runs Gen Dai Martial Arts Karate.

Sensei David Shipton was taught by Japanese instructor Sensei Enoeda

Sensei David has 41 years of experience earning him all grades from white belt all the way through to 5th Dan. Through his journey he has gained many titles under his belt with the most impressing one being the holder of the UK Champion at the grand age of 51 in 2014!

This inspired Sensei David's son ( Coach Louis Shipton) to birth the existence of Gen Dai Thai boxing in Australia.

Coach Louis Shipton has 14 years of experience in Muay Thai and has been been trained and guided by some of the best trainers in the United Kingdom who have produced many world champions.

Coach Louis was fighting at a high professional level before he moved to Australia. At the age of 23 years old he started Gen Dai Thai Boxing in 2021, Muay Thai is his passion and he loves nothing more than passing his knowledge on to his students and creating an environment where they can be the best version of themselves and achieve their personal goals whether that be improving their fitness or competing. Either way all students are valued and are not pressured to compete.

Since starting the gym Louis has grown not only a strong fight team but a strong community with in the gym, training fighters will always be louis passion however he gets a lot of enjoyment watching people grow into better versions on themselves not only winning fights but winning at life in general his true goal is to watch people succeed in every aspect of life and we are certainly achieving that at team Gen’dai Louis has travelled up and down the country with his fighters giving them as much experience as possible because we believe at Gen’dai experience is the best thing for the up and coming fighters, we have been involved in some amazing shows and look forward to many more to come Louis have really been passionate about building up his junior fight team because the juniors are the future of Muay Thai and we want them to be the best they can be and he's trying to give them as many opportunities as possibly to create future champions.
